The University of Nottingham (Nottingham University) is a public research university in Nottingham, United Kingdom. It was founded as University College Nottingham in 1881. The institution received its Royal Charter in 1903, which gave it university status and the authority to award degrees. Nottingham University comes under the alliance of The Russell Group, which promotes research in all its associated universities. Nottingham University and Sutton Bonington’s Midlands Agricultural and Dairy College combined in the 1940s to form the School of Agriculture, and the Portland Building was finished in 1956 to go with the Trent Building.
The institution founded the first brand-new medical school in the United Kingdom in the 20th century in 1970. On the former site of the Raleigh Bicycle Company, one mile (1.6 km) from the University Park Campus, Jubilee Campus opened its doors in 1999. Since then, Nottingham started to grow internationally, establishing campuses in Malaysia and China in 1999 and 2004 respectively. The King’s Meadow Campus, which is next to University Park, debuted in 2005.

The University Park Campus:
The 330-acre (1.3 km2) main campus of the University of Nottingham is located to the west of the city of Nottingham. University Park, with its lake, clock tower, and immense parkland vegetation, has garnered many accolades for its architecture and landscaping, and was recognised with a Green Flag Award for being the greenest campus in the nation.
The university’s public arts center and performance area, the Lakeside Arts Centre, is located in Highfields Park at the south entrance to the main campus. A variety of cultural facilities are housed in the D.H. Lawrence Pavilion, including a theater with seating for 225 people, a number of craft cabinets, the Weston Gallery (which showcases the university’s manuscript collection), the Wallner gallery, which serves as a platform for local and regional artists, and a number of visual arts, performance, and hospitality spaces.
Jubilee Campus:
Jubilee Campus, created by Sir Michael Hopkins, is about a mile (1.6 km) from University Park and was inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II in 1999. The Schools of Education and Computer Science, as well as The Nottingham University Business School, are housed at the campus’ facilities. The National College for School Leadership is also housed there.
The Jubilee Campus received the Energy Globe Award in 2005. The campus stands out for its cutting-edge and distinctive architecture, which culminates in the 60-meter-tall artistic building Aspire, which is the tallest freestanding structure in the UK.

To apply for a full-time undergraduate programme at Nottingham University, students first need to make an online application via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service – UCAS.

Other Requirements:
A) Entrance Tests – Students may be invited to a departmental admissions test as part of the application, which is quite rare. But Nottingham University has one compulsory entrance test:
BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) This test is taken to study MBBS/BSc medicine courses, as part of your application process.
B) Statement of Purpose (SOP) – It is a very important part of UCAS Application. It helps the Nottingham University admission committee get an insight into who you are and whether you’d be a good fit for the course you’re applying to. The SOP should cover the students’ career aspirations, how they developed an interest in their subject, any relevant work or research experience related to their subject and their plans. You can only submit one personal statement for the five courses and universities you have applied for.
C) Letter of Recommendation (LOR) – The reference letter(s) is/are usually provided by the teachers that have observed the student closely; it includes the aspects of the applicant’s growth trajectory in the subjects, accomplishments and interest shown, and any remarkable accomplishments highlighting their expertise in the field. Only one LOR is required for Nottingham University.
→ International students applying from the USA, have to appear for the AP Tests as a compulsory pre-requisite at Nottingham University. A minimum of 3 AP Tests where at least 4 grade in each is achieved, but some challenging courses may require additional AP Tests.
